Daley

The verdict will be handed down today in the extortion case against Superintendent of Police Harry 'Bungles' Daley.

He is accused of accepting extortion money from a St Catherine businessman.

He should have known his fate on November 18 when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, but Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey said she was ill and needed more time to review the case.

Daley, who is the first senior police officer to be charged with breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act, is on bail pending the outcome of his case.

He is accused of collecting protection money from the complainant, Tafari Clarke, for a plaza in St Catherine. He was held during a sting operation in Kingston in July 2008.
