We should 'Shut 'em up'

I totally agree with the views expressed by Messrs McKenzie and Barnett for the government to step in and provide stricter guidelines for the airing of certain material that passes for music/entertainment.
I would go further to say that an outright ban for a limited time on lyrics that promote violence and lewdness is required right now if we are going to stem the tide of coarseness, violence, and general disorder that has permeated the society over the years.
I have no doubt in my mind that along with unemployment, and the general lack of opportunities and social mobility, lewd and violent dancehall lyrics have played a very prominent role in dragging down our society.
The media landscape, both printed an electronic, must take full responsibility for what has happened because they have become willing partners, along with certain corporate entities and the music impostors/dancehall artistes, in unleashing this monster on our society, especially on the most vulnerable - our young people.
Reject the direction
Our leaders both political and civic must reject the direction that this so-called entertainment is taking us and move forthright to further regulate the airwaves. The freedom, provided by the opening up of the electronic-media landscape, to inform and entertain our people in a responsible way has been shamelessly squandered by a hypocritical group of practitioners.
This group has put profit above all else, even as it tries to convince us through the odd programme that it is concerned about what is happening.
I am, etc.,
