How about a health and safety campaign?

Published: Wednesday | December 16, 2009

The Editor, Sir:

As a frequent visitor to Montego Bay, I am appalled at the number of motorists who use cellphones while driving. I try to educate them but their responses are, "I am a good driver, only idiots crash while driving and talking" and "this is Jamaica".

Along with loud music and total disrespect for each other, some Jamaicans are ignorant of basic health and safety issues. Take a look at the open sewers, garbage heaps, everything fried, vendors outside schools and sidewalks.

A health and safety campaign should be the goal for 2010.

I am, etc.,
